Tomato pasta, from idea to grocery run
A made-up dinner example showing the steps. Ingredient choices are reviewed by you, not checked against your pantry automatically.
- Save the recipe
The pasta everyone asks for
Keep the recipe and its ingredients together: pasta, tomatoes, onion and olive oil.
- Plan the meal
Monday · Tomato pasta
Add the recipe to your meal plan. Leave space in the week for other dinners and leftovers.
- Review ingredients
We already have olive oil
Open the week’s ingredient review and uncheck what you don’t need. Check any uncertain quantities before adding them.
- Build the list
Pasta, tomatoes and onion
Add the selected ingredients to your household’s shopping list. Items already on the list start unchecked in the review.
- Go shopping
Aisle by aisle
Use the shared grocery list, group items by aisle and check them off as you shop.
A SMALL START GOES A LONG WAY
Make it work for your household.
Keep the dinners you actually cook
Save favorite recipes so they’re easy to use again. Build a weekly meal plan around your household’s schedule.
Review before you add
Matching ingredients with compatible units are combined. Uncertain quantities stay separate for you to check. Uncheck anything you already have.
Bring the plan into the store
Add the ingredients you selected, then use your shared list for the grocery run. If you imported the wrong batch, the review offers an undo option.
GOOD TO KNOW
A few practical details.
Does Family Hub know what is in my pantry?
No. You review the ingredients and uncheck what you already have. The meal planner does not automatically track your pantry.
What if an ingredient is already on the shopping list?
Matching items already on your list start unchecked in the ingredient review. You can review your selection before adding anything.
Do I need to plan every dinner?
No. Start with a few meals that would help your week. Your meal plan does not need to fill every day.
