Privacy policy
Effective 8 October 2026
This policy covers the Family Hub app and joinfamilyhub.com. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@joinfamilyhub.com.
Information we collect and why
- Account information: your name, username, account ID, household membership and role, and protected password and recovery-code information. We use these to create your account, sign you in, recover access and manage your household.
- Family information and plans: names of family members, calendar events and imported calendar feeds, lists, meals, recipes, notes, routines, completed tasks, rewards and notices that you choose to add. We store this information to provide and synchronize your family’s plans.
- Notifications: if you enable reminders, we store your notification preferences and a push subscription containing the browser’s delivery endpoint and keys. These let us deliver notifications to your device.
- Technical information: we collect filtered error reports and sampled performance measurements to find faults and improve reliability. Our hosting and monitoring providers also process connection information, including IP addresses and approximate location inferred from them (such as country, region or city), to deliver and protect the service and understand technical performance. This automatic processing cannot be turned off in the app.
- Support: if you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include, and use it to respond and verify requests. Do not send passwords or recovery codes.
You can use Family Hub without adding optional plans, connecting calendar feeds or enabling push notifications. The app does not request access to your device’s address book or GPS location. Family-member names are information you enter yourself.
Who can receive information
Your household’s plans and family profiles are shared with other members of that household. Share invitation codes and calendar subscription links only with people you want to have access; calendar links allow their holders to read the exported calendar.
We use service providers to operate Family Hub: Vercel for hosting, Turso for the application database, Sentry for technical monitoring, and your browser’s push service when you enable notifications. They process information needed to provide those services. Connecting an external calendar or requesting a recipe import also sends a request to the source website or calendar provider.
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect the service and its users.
Error reports and performance
Sentry receives error types, compiled code locations, generalized route categories and timing measurements. We filter family content, account identifiers, passwords, cookies, request bodies and free-text error messages from these reports. Session replay is disabled.
Network requests expose the sending IP address to the receiving service. Sentry is configured to prevent storage of IP addresses in new events; this setting does not by itself prevent IP-based approximate location from being derived or retained. Approximate location in provider traffic logs and technical reports is separate from GPS location and may remain after the original request has finished. Providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States.
Plus and Google Play
If you purchase Family Hub Plus through Google Play, Google handles payment details under its own privacy policy. Family Hub does not receive your card or bank details. Subscription information used to provide Plus can include the product, purchase identifier, status and expiry date linked to your household.
Deleting your Family Hub account does not cancel a store subscription. Manage subscriptions separately in Google Play.
Security and device storage
Connections to Family Hub use HTTPS encryption. Passwords and recovery codes are stored as hashes. Access to household records is restricted to signed-in members of that household.
Family Hub uses a session cookie for sign-in and stores appearance preferences on your device. If you save an offline copy, household information is also stored locally. Remove it in Settings → This device; copies on other devices must be removed separately.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and household information while it is used to provide the service. Items moved to Recently deleted remain recoverable until you permanently delete them or delete the household.
Deleting your account removes your account, push subscriptions and personal notification preferences from the active database. Shared family plans remain for other household members. The household owner can delete the whole household to remove all its accounts and shared records, including subscription records, from the active database.
Hosting logs, technical reports, support correspondence and database backups are managed separately from active app records. Their retention depends on the provider and operational or legal requirements; we do not promise immediate erasure of these copies. Contact us for information or an erasure request concerning these records.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can edit information in the app, remove optional content, disable notifications, disconnect calendar feeds and download household data in Household settings. For access, correction or deletion requests you cannot complete in the app, email hello@joinfamilyhub.com. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, obtain a copy of your information, or complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children and family profiles
Family Hub accounts are intended for adults managing their household. Adults may add names and plans for children in their care. Only add information you are authorized to provide, and avoid unnecessary sensitive details.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or another appropriate notice.
